Dear Faith Partner
Did you know the moment you made Jesus Christ, the Lord of your life, you became a “Partaker of His
Divine Nature”, and that new release means the new man is to dominate your life? Listen to what Peter
tells us here in II Peter 1:3-4, “as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and
godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us
exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature,
having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.” According to this Scripture you are NOW,
a partaker (or too share in) of His divine nature.
If you are saved and you are, your spirit has been recreated and you have a new nature; the nature of
God. Your new nature does not want to sin because it is no longer your nature to do so. II Corinthians
5:16-18a (NKJV) states, “Therefore, from now on, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though
we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now we know Him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is
in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all
things are of God…” However, sin is a parasite that seeks to express itself through your body. As you
renew your mind, you exchange fleshly thinking for heavenly thinking or right thinking into right living. It
is explained clearly in Romans 12:2 (NKJV), “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of
When you accepted Jesus as your Lord and personal Savior, you literally received a new spiritual nature.
God takes away the sin nature that once controlled you and places His nature on the inside of you.
Romans 6:9-15 (NKJV) says, “knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, dies no more. Death
no longer has dominion over Him. For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that
He lives, He lives to God. Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in
Christ Jesus our Lord. Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God
as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not
have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.”
Do you understand what it means to be partakers of God’s divine nature? Each of us was born into this
world with a fallen, sinful nature. That’s not because of what we did, but because Adam sinned and that
sinful nature has been passed down from generation to generation, all the way to you and I. But thank
God, we can now have God’s divine nature instead! (Romans 5:12-14)
Now that you are born again, having received Jesus as LORD over your life, you are a partaker of God’s
divine nature; His characteristics, His way of being, thinking and doing right or simply God-likeness. All of
this is not different from being born again, it is the amazing result of being born again!
God’s nature has come to you by the Word of God; therefore, His nature should flow out of you. (I Peter
1:23) When people encounter you, it should be the same as encountering Jesus, who operated in divine
power when He was on this earth. I John 4:17b says, “…because as he is, so are we in this world.”
The idea of a partaker of God’s divine nature is to have fellowship or interaction with His nature.
Ephesians 2:3 makes it very clear that before you were born again, you were a partaker of the sin nature.
“All of us used to be just as they are, our lives expressing the evil within us, doing every wicked thing that
our passions or our evil thoughts might lead us into. We started out bad, being born with evil natures, and
were under God’s anger just like everyone else.” (TLB) King James Version says it this way, “…and were by
nature the children of wrath, even as others.”
When you made Jesus Christ Lord of your life, you became what the Bible calls a new creature. Inside,
you are not the same person you were before. You have the nature of God born into you. However, it is
not enough for you just to have that new nature on the inside. You must let it take over the outside as
well. Romans 12:1 (AMP) encourages believers in the importance of this, “I beseech you therefore,
brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God,
which is your reasonable service.”
Do not expect the change to happen automatically. You have to make a decision to bring your body into
obedience to the new man within you. You must determine to do what Romans 6:12-18 says and let not
sin…reign (or rule) in your mortal body. Or as the Amplified Version says, “Let not sin therefore rule as
king in your mortal (short-lived, perishable) bodies, to make you yield to its cravings and be subject to its
lusts and passions.” I know that sounds tough, but remember, you are not in this alone; you have THE
Helper inside enabling you to carry out that decision in your day to day living. His name is Holy Spirit. He
is there to strengthen you through His Grace that equips you. He gives you the power to put sin out of
your life and under your feet.
I encourage you to make that decisive dedication of your body today– and let that new man that is on
the inside of you begin to come out! Remember, right NOW you are a partaker of the divine nature by
the great and precious promises of God. As a member of God’s family get familiar with His precious
